loves life, treasures love.

It's past 2am now.
But I just don't seem to be able to fall asleep after tossing and turning on my bed.
I have my worries.
Is chocolate (i pronounce it as shock-o-latte) still alive?
Chocolate is a male dwarf rabbit that my dad spotted when he was burning incense papers below my house. He went after him, caught him, kept him in a box and brought him back. We'd also like to know if he was abandoned or lost. Cos he's a real fat one and doesn't seem to show any signs of being tortured. Except for his UBER LONG fingernails that may cause himself harms. Plus, dwarf rabbits are damn prone to getting lost. We've been trying to reach the house rabbit society for days but just couldn't get them as there're an all volunteer organisation.
Anyway, this rabbit seems to have a VERY different diet from bunbun. We fed him all sorts of food that bun simply loves, but he just wouldn't even eat a piece. And that includes bunbun's favourite rabbit's treats! Rabbit's digestion system takes only an hour and this fella who was with us for 2 days probably only ate 2 grapes and a little piece of pear. If his main diet was fruits, that explains his weight.
Anyway, we refused to hand him over to the SPCA knowing that 80% of the animals brought there are put to sleep. But once again, the HRSS can never be contacted!!! Chocolate was observed to be a tame rabbit (much more better than bun) which brings much fun, until yesterday night. As he was kept in a quite tall box with covered tops, he jumped all he could to be out of it. And it was damn scary. Because he did it nonstop.
I told steph that it's time we call SPCA. We didn't wanna keep chocolate as bun was already too much of a trouble plus dwarf rabbits die much easily, especially when we don't know what his main diet is. Steph spoke to the management of SPCA and wanted them to keep chocolate for a few more days as she strongly believed that it was lost. She even wrote a letter for the vet. We know that he most probably would be put to sleep, as out of 1000 animals sent to SPCA, 700 were rabbits. Still, Steph cried the whole evening, feeling guilty and remorseful, being the one who called SPCA.
Was this the right decision to make? I do hope so.
To people out there who keep rabbits as pets.
These poor fellas are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY the minute they step into your house. They are lives that you CANNOT ABANDON as and when you're tired of them. Treat them well for the whole 8 years and that's it. Because, there're relying on you the minute you bring them back! FYI, many abandoned rabbits are found in Jurong parks. And most of them are put to sleep finally. Just how many innocent can be saved? Resources are limited. Funds are limited. So, sterilise your pets!!!
